Clinical Nutrition

This clinical nutrition course focuses on the human body and its relationship with food. 

Engaging and educational, the course material will have you thinking about the ways food can affect physical health and the overall sense of wellbeing. Students will analyse links between nutrition and disease and examine the workings of the metabolism.

Learn how to think like a clinical nutritionist and the responsibilities for advising and supporting individuals as they adjust their diets to suit their dietary needs.

This qualification is not only useful to those who already work in nutrition and wish to progress, but also to those who want to understand a bit more about health and nutrition for their own benefit.

How does the course work? 

Once enrolled, students will be given access to our online course materials where they will find educational and interactive learning resources. Everything you need to complete the course will be included in these easy to access materials. Additionally, you will be able to communicate with our tutors via phone, email or through our online platform. Further advice and guidance is also provided through a hub of likeminded learners that you can reach out to through our virtual learning platform.  

Distance learning comes with a great deal of flexibility, but self-motivation and discipline are essential to successfully complete your studies.

Entry Requirements

No prior qualifications are needed. The only requirement for this course is for future students to have an interest in nutrition and the motivation to engage in home study.

The course should take approximately 200 hours to complete.

All course fees, inclusive of all payment plans including our Premium Credit Limited option, must be settled before certification can be ordered.

*You will have access to the course for 24 months.

After each lesson there will be a question paper, which needs to be completed and submitted to your personal tutor for marking. This method of continual assessment ensures that your personal tutor can consistently monitor your progress and provide you with assistance throughout the duration of the course.

At the end of this course successful learners will be given the option to receive a Certificate of Achievement from the Quality Licence Scheme and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the components the learner has completed as part of the course).

Level 4 Clinical Nutrition Certificate of Achievement

The course has been endorsed under the Quality Licence Scheme. This means that learndirect has undergone an external quality check to ensure that the organisation and the courses it offers, meet defined quality criteria. The completion of this course alone does not lead to a regulated qualification* but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills gained. The Learner Unit Summary may be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this subject. To this end the learning outcomes of the course have been benchmarked at Level 4 against level descriptors published by Ofqual, to indicate the depth of study and level of demand/complexity involved in successful completion by the learner.

The course itself has been designed learndirect to meet specific learners’ and/or employers’ requirements which cannot be satisfied through current regulated qualifications. The Quality Licence Scheme endorsement involves robust and rigorous quality audits by external auditors to ensure quality is continually met. A review of courses is carried out as part of the endorsement process.

You will be presented with a Level 4 Certificate in Clinical Nutrition on successful completion of this online course.  If you enjoyed the study and wish to continue, you may choose to study further qualifications with learndirect or go onto study nutrition at university.

If you choose not to continue your studies, then you will be able to use your qualification to secure work. There are plenty of opportunities for individuals with knowledge in this field.
